This taping machine is designed to apply a variety of taping materials to conductors and cables. It can accommodate a variety of tape heads which can be quickly and easily changed to provide a very versatile machine. Supplied in single or multi bay format, with or without a caterpillar haul through, to suit customer requirements.
The taping bays comprise a hollow section steel base structure with 4 feet to facilitate fixing to the floor. On top of the base is fitted a sheet steel guard complete with door. The door is electrically interlocked for safety and locked closed whenever the taping head is spinning. A polycarbonate viewing window is fitted into the door and an internal light is also supplied to aid viewing of the taping process.
The tape head is fitted into the machine structure's spindle housing with the drive to the taping head by a servo-motor driving through timing belt and pulleys. Intermediate guide rollers are positioned within the taping bay either side of the taping point to hold the product steady during taping.
The caterpillar bay construction is similar to that of the taping bays.
Caterpillar haul-throughs are available with a range of pulling capacities (1100N - 5000N). The caterpillar is of the twin belt type, with a polyurethane laminate. The belts run on rollers and have a length of 1000 or 1500 long. The top track opens pneumatically to provide a maximum opening of 60 mm. The grip is provided by the upper belt track closing down pneumatically onto the lower belt track with the product in between - the clamping pressure being adjustable via the pressure regulator. The caterpillar is driven by a single servo motor driving through gearboxes to drive both belts at the same speed.
Each bay has a servo drive system. An operating station is also fitted to facilitate machine operation. The servo drive may be mounted in the machine bay for small lines or contained in a separate cabinet for multi-bay lines.
A free standing control console is supplied containing the PC control for each machine line providing easy operator interfacing with the machine. The PC provides the added benefit of 'on line' diagnostics reducing the need for engineers to visit should a problem arise.
A variety of taping heads are available for applying various materials including Paper, Mica, Nomex, Glass, Polyester, Aluminium/Mylar and Kapton. They are available in concentric (1 tape), radial (6 or 8 tapes) and tangential (2, 3 or 4 tapes) layouts.
A wide range of pay-off drum stands and reception drums stands are available for the C100 Taping Lines and Bunching Lines. For more information see our drum stands page.
